Photograph shows number 72 Squadron in early 1941. This had been the first squadron to engage the enemy, August 15, 1940. The squadron had changed much from 1940 and had suffered many losses during the fighting in the summer of 1940. Robert Deacon Elliot, front, centre left, was one of the few who took part in the action of August 15.
